I was interested in the idea of using 2 notes a semi-tone apart (dissonance). Generally that sounds bad but it struck me that it seemed like car horns (actually about true as car horns are made up of 2 tones so they cut through and alert us).

Whist writing I kept thinking of Bruce Springsteen's city inspired songs like "Jungleland" and specifically the lines "There's six lanes of traffic. Three lanes moving slow..." from Dire Straits' "Telegraph Road".
