about

"Space Case" is both an album and an instrument demo. The name is shared with a collection of VST Instruments & Effects that are included as part of the package (see below).

The "Space Case" pieces are deliberately minimal, they let the sounds really speak which a fuller mix can get in the way of. Also, real Space Music is generally really open in nature. It is about defining the space/silence with unique sounds.

There is a suite of the three pieces which were also composed as instrument demos and are noted below. One includes a rare co-written piece with another composer.

if you are here for the VST package then thank you. It is only available included as part of the album purchase. Sure it may be a shameless way of making you buy my music (and hope you listen to it) but you are paying no more so either see the music or the VSTs as free.

To claim the VST please be sure to add a note to me when you purchase the whole album here on Bandcamp, That will let me know that you want the link to the package and will email it to you soon.

The fine print: VSTs are "as is" and come with no guarantees as to performance in your situation past/present/future. They are built in the SynthEdit environment and focused on the Reason 9.5+ platform but should work in any PC/Windows Host. If you don't include the request for the VST in your purchase I won't send the link later. Also, please do your own back up of the files as I won't be re-sending after drive crashes etc. This is not a super secret link so I hope you respect that and don't go passing it around the internet. These things are all under copyright so you would be stealing which is never a cool move.

about

Benedict Roff-Marsh Brisbane, Australia

Trained as a Mix Engineer in the late 80's in a tape-based studio making AM Radio jingles. It taught me to deliver and focus on the right result instead of messing about for days over whether 234ms or 243ms was more socially acceptable. I noticed that everyone was a bit afraid of the electronics. Composing helped me understand how to mix better. ... more
