about

I realized fairly early on that this would be a double album as whilst trying to write atmospheric tracks I got melodies and vica verca. Neither side wanted to let go so a double it was. Very broadly I have split the tracks into the two types (so that it will fit on 2 CDs) with the first half taking the more overtly melodic pieces and the second half the more atmospheric. Track 14 The Heart is the start of the second half/disc.

This album's working title was Lotus (from Lotus Sutra) till the very end. The name "Double Space" was a bit of a personal thing I stumbled on from the (somewhat obvious) idea that I was writing a double space album. It was just a bit of a joke so I kept on with the enlightenment theme.

When making the cover, complete with a Japanese character that means lotus and the title "Dedicated To...", it just wasn't working. Sure it looked nice but there was no magic (and it bothered my partner that it promised oriental music that it didn't deliver). Few pokes and the name change and this happened. It screams Space Music to all whilst emphasizing the binary.

about

Benedict Roff-Marsh Brisbane, Australia

I bought my first keyboard in 1988 and set about learning how it worked as I had always loved music. I was working as a sound engineer in a studio and figured that knowing how to program the synths would be a good skill. I ended up making my own music as well as the sounds.

After around 25 years and around three times that many albums this is the music that I make. It is my style.
