Towards the end of the 1980s the German Masters started had moved their experimentation from the sounds and structures they used to the notes and harmonics. The technologies lead this as they had lead the first wave in the early 1970's. Now musicians had more computerised set ups both or sound generation but also for composition and recording. In some ways this saw the demise of the two schools a leading force in music. Other simpler forms inspired by the two schools took over and became New Age and House/Trance, driven from America.
